Boardman/Polando Field (aka Cape Gateway)
In 2009, Joe and Kathy Hicinbothem purchased the CertaPro franchise incorporating Barnstable, Dukes, and Martha's Vineyard counties. While the Hicinbothems have led the local operation for nearly two decades, this territory has been a staple of the Cape’s professional landscape since the very inception of CertaPro Painters in 1992.
Most travelers flying out of Hyannis know the airport as Boardman-Polando Field, but few know the 1931 story behind it. Russell Boardman and John Polando, two aviators who considered Hyannis their home base, set a world record by flying 5,011 miles nonstop from New York to Istanbul. They flew for 49 hours in a Bellanca monoplane named &Cape Cod,& which was so heavily loaded with fuel that they had to strip the doors and brakes just to get off the ground.
Navigating the complexities of a home improvement project requires the same precision as a transatlantic flight, a standard we’ve upheld on the Cape since 2009.
