CertaPro Painters® of Calgary & Central Alberta was entrusted with repainting a Mr. Lube service facility in Calgary, Alberta, as part of a nationwide rebranding effort. This five-bay location required significant preparation due to extensive pre-existing paint failure across multiple substrates, including metal siding, cinderblock, and brick. The project took place over four days, beginning on October 11, 2024, with a focus on restoring adhesion and achieving a durable, vibrant finish.

PROJECT SCOPE AND PROCESS:The facility exhibited severe paint delamination, particularly on metal surfaces, necessitating a strategic approach to surface preparation. The team scraped and power-sanded areas with hard scarring, then applied Sherwin-Williams Prime Rx primer, a high-build peel-bonding solution that enhances adhesion and smooths imperfections. Additionally, a premium exterior patch was used to repair damaged areas, ensuring a uniform surface before applying two coats of Mr. Lube’s signature blue and gray colors.
CHALLENGES AND EXECUTION:
Given the variety of substrates and the extent of the existing paint failure, meticulous preparation was essential. The crew expertly executed the project using advanced masking techniques and airless spray application to deliver a flawless, long-lasting finish. The end result was a refreshed, professional appearance that aligned with the brand’s nationwide rebranding initiative while ensuring improved durability and aesthetic appeal.
