Patterson Companies, Inc. – Commercial Office Painting Project

In May 2022, CertaPro Painters of South Metro was tasked with painting Patterson Companies’ entire Minnesota campus. The office building consisted of 35,000 sq feet of the exterior at three stories tall. The building had not been painted in over 15 years. Several areas of the concrete structure were peeling, with heavy and chipping on all metal surfaces including handrails, posts, doors, and the main entrance structure.

The project involved the painting of the entire exterior including concrete block, steel lampposts, bike racks, handrails, 20 ft. steel supports on the front awning, metal exterior doors, and a loading dock area. Heavy scraping was needed to remove chipped paint then primed with Loxon to seal and protect bare concrete from elements. Painted metal address numbers located on the third story, required a lift to access.

A 60 ft. boom lift was needed to access the third story of the building. There were high winds that required constant adjustments of spraying tips to prevent overspray of surrounding buildings, wildlife, and vehicles. Crew needed to utilize multiple paint application techniques including the use of Sherwin Williams Pro-Industrial paint. All metal structures required a special marine product line from Sherwin Williams to seal heavily rusted areas and provide a smooth finish.
