Arise Cafe – Commercial Dining Painting Project

In March 2021, the CertaPro Painters of South Metro team painted the interior of the Arise Cafe in Burnsville, MN.

This 5,000 square feet café interior was very dark, dingy and dated in dire need of a modern upgrade. There were multiple walls with carpet that required removal along with over 1,000 nail holes in need of repair. The colors of the café were earthy including brown, oranges, and dark greens. The project involved not only a paint refresh but needed many repairs. We painted the entire facility including the dining area, backrooms, and bathrooms. All the drywall within the café needed to be repaired due to large holes, including thousands of nail holes, and all the drywall sheets needed to be replaced. This project included cabinet and ceiling painting which proved to be a challenge as the ceiling went from a deep brown to a crisp white. This dramatic change applied to the walls of the café taking them from dark earthy browns, greens and oranges to light grays and bright blues.

This project required an elevated level of drywall skills as well as application techniques for dry fall ceiling paint. Our crews all provided a custom fireplace remodel which took special attention to detail. The level of drywall damage was significant with numerous repairs. The customer chose a total of 8 colors which required more dry time at the corner intersections. Along with the numerous colors, there were many colors constantly being revised by our customers, resulting in continuous redoes to provide the desired outcome. We transformed the ceilings from dark to light which required extended prep time for the dramatic color change. Since this location was a café, our crews covered all restaurant equipment to protect from overspray. The project took a total of two weeks, but we had to stop and start numerous times as other contractors came and went throughout the project. We all had times were they accidentally damaged our work during their processes, causing us to add more time to repair their damage. We also had issues with drying since this was March in Minnesota and the cold outside makes it take longer for paint to dry.
