Why I Started “Masters of the Main Line” 15 Years Ago
Posted on June 24, 2025
People often ask me: Why did you start this contractor referral list?
It really came down to three key reasons—reasons that have only become more meaningful over time.
1. Our customers were already asking for it.
On almost every painting estimate, homeowners would tell me how professional our team was, how much they appreciated our work, and—most often—how much they trusted us. Then they’d ask, “Do you know a good carpenter? A reliable roofer? A plumber you’d use yourself?”
So I started keeping a list of people I knew would do the job right. People I’d trust in my own home. I wanted to be a resource for our customers, long after the painting job was done.
2. Some contractors are just built different.
After 37 years in this community, I’ve met just about every type of contractor—from the “quick buck” guys to the true professionals who treat clients like family. The great ones? They care deeply. They stay accountable. They become friends.
I wanted to lift those people up. Promote them. Share their names. Because they deserve to grow, and I want to help them get the recognition they’ve earned.
3. Sometimes things go sideways.
Even with the best intentions, not every contracting job is smooth sailing. But when I pair caring, reasonable homeowners with caring, reasonable contractors? If there’s a misstep, I can step in. I can help smooth things over and get everyone back on track.
That’s why I host regular events—like our Mojo Events, and the Lower Merion Free Trade networking lunches. They’re about building trust and relationships with the contractors I believe in. When those relationships are strong, everything else is easier to fix.
So please—take advantage of the list we’ve curated with care over the past 15 years. These are the contractors I trust, and the ones I’d gladly refer to family and friends.
