Finding My Mojo: A Mid-COVID Discovery That Became a Main Line Community

Posted on October 27, 2025

In the middle of COVID, I stumbled onto something I almost couldn’t believe — a dozen guys hanging out on a patio, socially distanced, smoking cigars, sipping whiskey, and having real conversations.

No phones. No distractions. Just connection.

I remember thinking, “Is this even legal?!” So I walked up, introduced myself, and joined the conversation.

What I found that day was something special — a welcoming, eclectic group of people from all walks of life. That first night sparked what would become an ongoing tradition and, eventually, a friendship with the incredible people behind Cigar Mojo in King of Prussia.

💨 How It All Started

That small gathering of eight friends has since grown into something much bigger — a true community. I developed an unexpected love for cigars, not only for the flavor but for what they represent: slowing down, putting away the phone, and reconnecting with others in person.

Over time, I got to know Wade and Trae Roberts, the father-and-son team who founded Cigar Mojo, and Alan Price, who embodies the lounge’s warmth and authenticity.

These three have created more than a cigar shop — they’ve built a space that celebrates conversation, respect, and connection on the Main Line.

🔥 What Makes Cigar Mojo Special

Cigar Mojo was built from the ground up by two lifelong friends and cigar enthusiasts who wanted to bring something different to the area.

Located in King of Prussia, PA, the shop has become a destination for cigar lovers and anyone looking for a relaxing, social atmosphere.

Their space includes:

  • A walk-in humidor stocked with boutique and premium cigars

  • A ventilated indoor lounge and 1,600-square-foot outdoor patio

  • 24/7 member access, humidified lockers, and a BYOB policy

  • A diverse, welcoming community where everyone is treated with respect

Their philosophy is simple: create a space where people connect, unwind, and feel at home.

🎨 A Painting Partnership with Purpose

A few years ago, Brian Collins, one of our residential sales consultants at CertaPro Painters of the Main Line, asked me if he could offer to paint the bathroom at Cigar Mojo as a gesture of goodwill.

Wade’s response was classic Mojo:

“We don’t take charity… but if you want to paint the whole place, let’s talk.”

That conversation led to a full-scale interior refresh.

With help from our color consultant Susan Newcomer, we chose a warm, rich palette that complemented the lounge’s atmosphere. We even painted the ceiling tiles black to blend in old watermarks and give the space a clean, modern look.

The result? A stunning transformation that elevated an already special place — and deepened the friendship between our two businesses.

💬 Why This Place Matters

Cigar Mojo represents everything I value in the Main Line community:

  • Real connection without devices. People talk, listen, and share ideas.

  • Diversity and respect. Everyone’s welcome, and everyone’s voice matters.

  • Authenticity in leadership. Wade, Trae, and Alan lead with kindness and humility.

  • Shared pride in local business. When Main Line businesses collaborate, everyone wins.

It’s not just a cigar lounge. It’s a third place — somewhere between home and work where people can just be.

🏡 Supporting Local, Lifting Others

At CertaPro Painters of the Main Line, we believe in supporting businesses that make our community stronger. Whether it’s painting a local favorite like Cigar Mojo, partnering on coat drives, or hosting Mojo Thursdays to connect people across the Main Line, we’re proud to be part of something bigger than ourselves.

When you choose to paint local, you’re not just refreshing walls — you’re helping lift a network of small businesses, families, and friends who care about this community as much as you do.

🙌 Final Thoughts

That night back in 2020, I thought I’d just stumbled onto a casual cigar hangout. Now I realize it was something much deeper — a reminder of what happens when people show up, talk, and build something together.

If you haven’t been, stop by Cigar Mojo in King of Prussia, meet Wade, Trae, and Alan, and see why this place truly has Mojo.
