Things to Add to your Nursery that Most People Forget About

Having a baby on the way can be overwhelming. There are so many decisions to make and things to think about. You want the nursery to be absolutely perfect for when your baby arrives but with all of the other things on your mind it can be easy to forget about some important or helpful extra things you can add to this space. But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! Here are some tips for decorating a nursery.

Stations

Nursing Station – Nursing is difficult especially if you aren’t completely prepared. Make sure you have a spot in the nursery dedicated for nursing. You will need a nursing chair, end table with storage, a nursing pillow, supplies, a feeding log, good low lighting, trashcan and paper towels.

Sanitation Station – You want your nursery to be sanitary, obviously. Keep a tray by the changing table with antibacterial gel and paper towels. You will also want a diaper disposal system and a separate hamper for soiled clothes.

Good Organization Station – Keeping baby’s clothes organized is probably the biggest challenge of all. Make sure you have enough storage. It’s also helpful to separate the things they will be able to wear right away from the things they will need to grow into.

Comfort

Ceiling Fan – This reduces the risk of SIDS greatly. This makes all the difference in ensuring your baby won’t overheat in the middle of the night.

Think Ahead – When planning out the layout of nursery always keep in mind how it is going to transition into a toddler room. Leave enough space so that this will transition well as the baby gets older. Also pick a paint color that is not too childish and will also be able to transition into the upcoming years.

Proper Curtains – Be sure to choose curtains not just for design but for safety. Black out curtains will help the baby comfortably while also ensuring the room doesn’t get too hot during the day while the baby is napping.

Install a Dimmer – Dim, adjustable lighting is a must of a nursey.
