From Hail Damage to Seamless Finish
In August 2025, CertaPro Painters® of Boulder and Longmont completed a targeted exterior restoration for a local home, following a round of severe hailstorms that swept across Boulder County. Many homes in the area suffered damage, and this project demonstrated our ability to deliver precise repairs and seamless blending of new coatings with existing finishes.
Unlike a full repaint, the focus was on restoring specific areas—garage doors, railings, and fascia—without disturbing undamaged surfaces.
Having completed work on this same home in 2018, our team was tasked with carefully matching new coatings to the original finishes. Using Sherwin-Williams Latitude Acrylic Latex with Extreme Bond technology, we not only restored the property’s appearance but also ensured superior durability and resistance against Colorado’s unpredictable climate.

PROJECT SCOPE:This project was designed as a focused hail damage refresh rather than a complete exterior repaint. Our team restored the garage doors with Sherwin-Williams Latitude in the color Outerspace (SW6251), refinished the front railings in Neutral Ground (SW7568), and repainted fascia sections to match the original trim.
Surface preparation was handled with the same care as a full-scale project. We began with a professional power wash to remove dirt and residue, then selectively scraped peeling coatings, replaced failed caulking, and smoothed nail holes to create an even base.
Spot priming was strategically applied to compromised areas to ensure proper adhesion and lasting results. The use of premium Latitude paint with cross-linking technology gave the home enhanced weather resistance, extending the lifespan of both the repaired and existing surfaces.
challenges & solutions:
A major challenge for this project was precise color matching. Because we had originally painted the home in 2018, our team was able to replicate the exact Sherwin-Williams color formulas. Careful blending techniques and multiple coats ensured that the repaired sections integrated seamlessly with the undamaged areas.
Selective application was also essential. Since the entire home did not require repainting, our crews used careful masking and protection to prevent overlap on surfaces that remained in good condition. This approach not only saved the homeowner time and cost but also preserved the integrity of the original project.
Finally, Boulder County’s late-summer weather required flexibility in scheduling. With variable conditions threatening to interrupt application, our team worked efficiently to complete all tasks within the timeline while ensuring that coatings were applied under optimal curing conditions.
