Featured Commercial Project in Boulder, CO

CertaPro Painters^® of Boulder and Longmont was contacted in Summer 2019 to complete the restoration of metal surfaces on Pearl Street in downtown Boulder, CO. The project covered half a city block along with a separate multi-building complex.

The exterior metal sections required a significant amount of maintenance including sanding and grinding to remove rust and debris. These actions helped return the surfaces to a proper condition for optimal primer and paint application.

CHALLENGES:

Challenges of this magnitude can provide their own set of unique hurdles. Planning the project took more than a year, collaborating with tenants, management, and municipality. High-level communication and coordination allowed the team to finish the project on budget and under the allotted timeframe without incident.

Working on a large section of a city block also called for the presence of a traffic-control company, barricades, and right-of-way permits to properly operate. The permits authorized CertaPro’s team to block roads, alleys, and sidewalks.

CONDITIONS

• Rusted Metal – An array of metal sections had lost all protective value, leading to a large rusting issue
• Peeling Paint – Paint was beginning to fail and was peeling away from the metal staircases and structures

PROJECT INVOLVEMENT

• Preparation – CertaPro’s team collaborated with the city, management, and tenants to create an efficient plan to complete the projects. The proper permits were also attained along with needed equipment, including boom and scissor lifts.
• Painting – An industrial grade, two-component coating system was applied to exterior metal surfaces across multiple commercial complexes.
