Our team recently completed an exciting residential painting project, featuring the popular color drenching technique to create a dramatic yet cozy atmosphere in the dining room. Color drenching involves painting the walls, ceiling, trim, and sometimes even furniture in the same color, wrapping the space in a unified, immersive look. This technique blurs boundaries within a room, making spaces feel more cohesive and intentional. It’s become a popular choice in modern interior design because it can make a bold statement while also bringing warmth and depth to a space. Homeowners love how color drenching can add personality and mood, whether through deep, moody tones or soft, calming hues.
About the Project
This residential painting project took place in Longmont, Colorado, in March 2025 and was completed over the course of two weeks. The homeowners had recently purchased the property and wanted to modernize its interior, focusing on key areas to refresh and personalize their new space.
The project involved updating the dated kitchen cabinets by repainting them and replacing the hardware. The cabinets were refreshed using a bright, airy color in Sherwin-Williams SW 6191 Contented, while the kitchen island provided a bold contrast, painted in the same deep hue used for the color-drenching feature in the adjacent room. To ensure a smooth finish, all cabinet doors were removed, and the existing hardware holes were filled and redrilled to accommodate the new handles.
In the dining room, a bold color drenching technique was used, applying Sherwin-Williams SW 6195 Rock Garden not only on the walls but also extending onto the ceiling for a dramatic, cohesive look. Additionally, fun and vibrant colors were introduced in the kids’ rooms to add personality and energy.
