The Task:

F.D. Sterritt Lumber, a lumberyard in Watertown, MA, noticed that the paint on their facility was fading as a result of exposure to the elements. Knowing that they needed a paint refresh, they sought out to find the best painters in the area. Soon after, they hired CertaPro Painters of Boston for assistance!

The Work:

CertaPro Painters of Boston began working on this project in October 2022. The team first had to scrape off any remaining loose paint on surfaces that were going to be painted. These surfaces were power washed, and all bare wood and metal surfaces were primed. After this was complete, painting of the facility commenced.

There were several challenging aspects that occurred throughout the project. The weather was problematic during the course of the project, as rain in tandem with cold temperatures created an uncomfortable work environment. Despite these challenges, our team persevered and was able to finish working on the facility within a week.

At the customer’s request, the left side of the concrete cinder block wall was painted white to match the neighboring business.

CertaPro and the customer decided to use Benjamin Moore Regal® Select Exterior Paint for the job.  Regal Select Exterior is 100% acrylic-fortified with advanced alkyd technology for superior adhesion, even on chalky substrates. Professional painters and discerning homeowners have trusted Regal for its beauty and durability for generations. This choice of paint provides a mildew-resistant coating and a durable finish that resists fading, cracking, and peeling so every job looks freshly painted for years.  Regal Select was used on the front clapboards as well as the other concrete cinder block walls.

Ultra Spec® HP D.T.M. Acrylic (HP-29) was used for the metal doors.  Ultra Spec HP D.T.M is a direct-to-metal paint designed to perform a dual purpose as a direct-to-metal primer and finish. Both coats of the product provide rust inhibition for superior corrosion control. The acrylic formula provides excellent color retention.  The film is fast drying permitting fast recoat. This product is also an excellent finish for masonry, plaster, wallboard, and interior wood surfaces.

Final Results:

After performing a paint refresh, CertaPro Painters of Boston was able to successfully restore F.D. Sterritt Lumber’s building back to a state that is reflective of their quality of work. Check out the photos below for examples of our work!
