Posted on November 20, 2019

Home offices are tough places. You set aside a room in your place of rest, to work. The space needs to read productivity. This juxtaposition can make choosing a look for renovation quite difficult.

Think outside the box with these 4 painting ideas for your home office.

Accent

Get big impact with little work with an accent wall in your office. Go bold with a color or pattern that matches your style. It will create a focal point in the room as you ponder your next work related moves.

Go with a plain accent wall to create a subtle change. Consider adding a decal of a map or statement that gives you inspiration. It will customize the room to your personality, and hopefully get you working.

Ombre

Ombre is everywhere. It’s been seen in clothes, hair, nails and now walls. Take the technique to your wall as a step up on the accent wall. Paint the ombre color in a horizontal line with the light color toward the top. This will give you a faux vaulted ceiling by drawing eyes up. Get creative with the colors you choose, as well as the direction you paint.

Color Washing

Color washing is a technique that gives a warm textured look by blending two colors together in a print effect. The base color and wash should be at least two to four shades from each other on the color wheel. Our pros have found that muted colors give a better finish, over primary or vivid colors. You’ll end up with a customized, textured and vintage look.

Writable Paint

Do you have sticky notes everywhere? Cut down on paper waste by using a writable paint on your wall. There are new options in both whiteboard and chalkboard paints available. Choose your medium and get painting. Some manufacturers offer different colors of the mediums, making a blue chalkboard or gray whiteboard. Check your local big box or paint store for options. Then ceremoniously dispose of those sticky notes.
