Frequently Asked Questions
Common Questions When Hiring a Professional Painter
Q: HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO PAINT THE INTERIOR OF MY HOME?
A: The best answer is it will depend.
The variables would be:
1) How big is your home ?
2) Are there complicated features like vaulted ceilings ?
3) What surfaces do you want painted (walls, ceilings, baseboards, window trim, door trim, doors, cabinets, mantels, etc.) ?
Depending on these answers we can come up with a closer idea. Also, we are happy to come to your home and provide you with a detailed quote for all the items you want to include. As an example, if you want your living room’s walls and ceilings painted and this room is: 18 feet wide by 22 feet long by 9 feet tall, the cost would be approximately $1600.00.
Q: HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO PAINT THE EXTERIOR OF MY HOME?
A: The best answer is it will depend.
The variables would be:
1) How big is your home ?
2) Is it one, two, or three stories ?
3) Are there complicated features like different types of siding, accent shingles, decoration corbels ?
4) The number of colors ?
5) The number of windows and doors? Depending on these features your price will vary.
Also, we are happy to come to your home and provide you with a detailed quote for all the items you want to include. As an example, a 2000 square foot single story home exterior project would cost between $6000 and $9000 to paint, assuming 2 colors and few complications.
Q: DO YOU HAVE A COST MINIMUM FOR PROJECTS?
A: We do NOT have a minimum cost for a job. This is the case as we know small jobs lead to larger jobs and we want to be your painting company for life! The only condition on small jobs is that you are flexible when we do these jobs. We normally will add smaller jobs to the end of the week so a paint crew can stop by on Thursday for example and complete your smaller job after they have finished a larger job that week. We would be happy to provide you with a detailed free painting estimate for any size of project!.
Q: IS THERE ANYTHING THAT CAN CHANGE THE COST OF A PROJECT AFTER I RECEIVE MY QUOTE?
A: Yes, the price can change depending only on options that we may offer you. The first option we typically offer is to upgrade your paint. On exteriors we will quote your job with Sherwin Williams Superpaint and give you an option to upgrade to Sherwin Williams Emerald paint. Another example of an option would be to paint an additional room for an interior or paint or stain something not included in an exterior. For example, we could add staining your deck or painting your shed as options. However, if the content of the job does not change your price will not change..
Q: WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO PAINT MY HOME IN CENTRAL OREGON?
This question needs to be answered differently for interiors and exteriors. Interiors – we like to do these in the winter months so we can keep our painters busy in the off season. We are happy to do them in the summer also, but we will offer you a discount if you allow us to paint your interior during the months of November Thru February. Exteriors – we can paint exteriors when the weather allows. This is typically best between April and October. However, we have lived in Central Oregon since 1988 and know each year will be a bit different. We are always happy to provide you with an estimate regardless of the timing of your project.
Q: HOW OFTEN SHOULD I PAINT MY HOUSE?
A: This depends on whether we are painting your interior or exterior. Interior painting typically lasts longer. The other factor will be the quality of paint that we use. If we paint your exterior with Sherwin Williams Superpaint it will last between 6-10 years depending on sun conditions and your tolerance for fading paint on the sun sides. If we painted the same house with Sherwin Williams Emerald paint it would last 10-15 years again depending on your tolerance for fading on the sun sides. For interiors the main variable
will be sunlight that shines through. If you use Sherwin Williams Emerald paint, you can expect the life of you paint job to be between 10-20 years again depending on your tolerance for fading. We are happy to provide you with a detailed estimate of any painting project and review all these options with you.
Q: HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO PAINT A HOUSE?
A: This will depend. The factors will be:
1) How large is your home
2) How many stories is your home
3) How many colors will we be painting
4) How many surfaces will we be painting
5) Are there features about your home that would complicate painting it. For example; a 1500 foot home’s interior if we are painting just walls and ceilings it would take between 2-4 days depending on the size of crew we assign. For a 1500 square foot single story home’s exterior it would take between 2-4 days again depending on the size of the crew.
Q: ARE YOU LICENSED AND INSURED?
A: Yes, we are. See our insurance and certifications here. Our license number is 249738. You can look our license up on the Oregon CCB web portal. If you google “CCB License Lookup” you will find the portal. Once on the lookup page enter our CCB license number and you will go to our page. From our page you can see that we are fully licensed, bonded, and insured.
Q: HOW WILL MY PROJECT BE MANAGED?
A: Once we have assigned your job to a paint crew somebody from the office will let you know who the crew is and the name of the lead painter. Once the lead painter arrives, he will introduce you to his crew and review the work order with you. He will provide you
with daily updates and when he is done, he will do a pride walk with you to ensure you are as happy with his work as he is! Once the paint crew is assigned to your job they stay on your job until it is done. They will not be reassigned to other jobs until your job is done. Also, the production manager who is assigned to your job will check in with you to ensure all is going well. He or she may stop by several times during your job. At any time during your job, you can speak to your lead painter or call our office if you have questions or concerns. Your complete satisfaction is very important to us so please let us know how you think we are doing. We are a referral-based business so when we meet your expectations we will ask you to refer your family and friends to us.
Q: CAN THE PAINTERS WORK WITHOUT ME BEING HOME?
A: Yes, they can. However, under most circumstances we like you present while we paint so you can review daily progress to ensure things are going as you would expect.
Q: WHAT TYPE OF PAINT DO YOU USE?
A: We normally recommend Sherwin Williams paints for both interior and exterior jobs. We will also give you options on the paints (premium to premier) we can use so you can make the best decision for your home or rental. If you have a different paint that you want us to use we are happy to do that also..
Q: DO YOU HAVE ECO-FRIENDLY PAINT OPTIONS?
A: This is typically an interior question and yes, we have very eco-friendly ‘paint’ options. We have several paints that are zero VOC. Please let us know what type of project you have and what you are concerned about and we will be happy to tailor a painting solution for you that meets your requirements.
