Residential & Commercial Applications

Residential Floor Coatings: Residential floor coatings, including epoxy and polyaspartic options, are increasingly popular for homeowners seeking durable, low-maintenance solutions to enhance their homes’ appearance and function. These coatings work well in any room—garages, basements, kitchens, bathrooms, and living spaces—and can be applied to surfaces such as concrete, wood, and tile. With a variety of colors, textures, and finishes, residential coatings offer stain and spill resistance, easy maintenance, and can even help reduce dust and allergens while boosting home value.

Commercial Floor Coatings: In commercial and industrial settings, epoxy and polyaspartic floor coatings provide a robust, protective layer that enhances both durability and aesthetics. Tailored to meet specific needs, commercial coatings are available in materials like polyaspartic, epoxy, polyurethane, and polyurea, each offering unique benefits such as slip resistance, chemical resistance, and UV protection. The Layers of Epoxy Floors

Floor coatings consist of 3 layers of coatings, starting with a concrete base (pictured as the gray slab in the diagram).

After floor prep, which include using a grinder on the floor and cleaning of the surface, a tinted base coat is applied on top of the concrete. Before the base coat dries, a layer of decorative chips are evenly spread across the surface and left to set for a few hours. Once dry, any excess chips are scraped off the surface and cleaned.

The last layer is a clear top coat that is applied on top of the chip layer. The top coat gives added protection, seals chips in place, and gives a high gloss shine to the floor.

Benefits of Epoxy Flooring

Epoxy floors are a top choice for durable, attractive flooring in both residential and commercial settings. Known for their resilience, epoxy floors withstand heavy foot traffic, resist scratches, stains, chemicals, and moisture—making them perfect for high-traffic areas like garages, warehouses, and industrial spaces. Their low-maintenance requirements mean that simple sweeping or mopping is all it takes to keep them looking pristine. Available in a variety of colors and finishes, epoxy floors can be customized to match any style or design preference, adding aesthetic appeal to their practical benefits. With a long lifespan and minimal upkeep, epoxy flooring offers a cost-effective solution for any space, combining functionality with a polished, professional look.

Epoxy vs. Polyurea Floors

When it comes to floor coatings, polyurea and epoxy are two popular choices, each offering distinct benefits depending on the application.

Polyurea is a high-performance, fast-curing coating known for its exceptional durability, flexibility, and resistance to abrasion, impact, and chemicals. This coating can handle extreme temperature changes without cracking or peeling, making it ideal for high-traffic areas like commercial and industrial facilities, though it’s also great for residential spaces. Polyurea coatings are available in a wide variety of colors and textures and can be applied to surfaces like concrete, metal, and wood. Its quick cure time allows for fast installation, minimizing downtime and making it perfect for projects that need a speedy turnaround.

Epoxy, on the other hand, is a durable and versatile floor coating that provides a seamless, easy-to-clean surface resistant to chemicals, abrasion, stains, and spills. Composed of a two-part resin and hardener system, epoxy can be customized with decorative options like flakes, metallics, and quartz, and comes in a wide range of colors and finishes. It’s an ideal choice for residential applications, such as garages, basements, and kitchens, due to its affordability and low maintenance requirements. Epoxy floors offer excellent durability for spaces that require both aesthetics and functionality.

In summary, both polyurea and epoxy coatings offer unique benefits. Polyurea is a great choice for high-traffic, commercial, and industrial settings, while epoxy is an affordable, durable option suited for residential applications.
