Office Building Renovation in Austin, TX
Our team had the opportunity to work on a large interior project that involved converting a building that was previously designed in the 1980s by the Dell company. The interior walls were originally designed with a “false front”, or facade that protruded from the wall studs in an “art deco” finish. The Management Company wanted a more modern and classic look with an outstanding finish. Our crews first had to remove the “Art Deco” finish that protruded from most walls. These walls then required a surface prep to provide consistency throughout the building.
After developing a great communication system with the property managers and gaining approval on installing new sheetrock, we turned the outdated 1980s interior into a modern, fresh interior ready for new business!
CHALLENGES:
Large commercial projects provide their own set of challenges. For this project, our CertaPro Painters had to coordinate with property management to gain approval to implement new sheetrock, after discovering there wasn’t existing sheetrock to work with. Many of the entry areas were 2 stories in height. We had to use a “narrow entry” lift to reach these taller areas.
CONDITIONS:
- Facade – This facility was designed with a decorative “false front” or face that protrudes from the wall studs.
- Bright Paint Colors – The majority of the walls were painted with neon colors.
PROJECT INVOLVEMENT:
- Sheetrock Installation – We needed to install new sheetrock, after discovering that many of the walls did not have sheetrock installed.
- Interior Paint – We repainted over the neon-colored walls with a new, modern color palette.
- Prep – Repair, maintenance, and installation.
PROJECT TIMELINE – 7 weeks
