How Much Will it Cost to Paint My Home’s Interior?

One of the first questions we get from prospective customers is, “How much will it cost to paint my (insert room or project here)?”  The purpose of this painting pricing guide is to provide a general sense of what a painting project would cost to in order to help you settle on a budget. Please keep in mind these are average prices, there are several factors that can affect the price up or down from the estimates provided below.

We always encourage you to contact us for a custom, no obligation estimate. Depending on the scope of your project, there are often efficiencies when painting multiple rooms at the same time that can help with overall costs.

Standard 12’ X 12’ bedroom

While the estimates above are a good starting point, please keep in mind these factors will affect the cost of a project:

1) The number of surfaces in need of paint. Estimates are for painting walls in average sized rooms in the Aurora area, to which we add surfaces like trim, doors, baseboard and crown molding.
2) The condition of the surfaces may affect preparation costs. Lots of dings, scratches, or holes require more labor to fill and sand them.
3) Wall height. The estimates above assume walls are 8′ high.
4) Drastic color changes. Going from extremely light colors to dark colors, or vice versa, will require more coats of paint to seamlessly cover the previous color. Repainting using the same color, or a similar one, requires two coats of paint. Drastic color changes might require 3-4 coats for even distribution and to achieve a beautiful finish.
5) Choosing a good paint matters and will almost always save you money in labor costs. We give estimates using mid-grade paints by Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams. Different brands and grades of paint can impact overall cost.
