Front Door Restoration in Annapolis, MD
The Client Challenge:
In July 2023, a homeowner in Annapolis, MD enlisted our team’s help in renovating their front door. Its advanced state of deterioration was evident upon arrival. Constant sun exposure had caused the paint to fade and completely peel off in a couple of places. The door’s black coloration likely accelerated its decay, as darker shades are far more prone to light and heat absorption.
The CertaPro Painters® Solution:
To prep the door for its eventual makeover, we first had to scrape off the rest of the peeling paint. We then sanded and smoothed the door many times before applying several coats of primer. Our team worked closely with the homeowner to pick a new color that was light enough to mitigate heat intake, but still dark enough to compliment the existing trim and shutters around the house. Ultimately, we landed on a medium blue, effectively trading light retention for increased reflectance while still maintaining the home’s uniform appearance.
The Success and Result:
In addition to the door’s complete restoration, we sharply reduced the probability of it needing more repairs any time soon. It took eight hours to complete this project and the homeowner was very satisfied with the new look.
