Siding Painting Services in WNY
Aluminum and vinyl siding can be successfully painted. It’s not something that most homeowners want to handle on their own. It’s best performed by a professional like CertaPro Painters® of WNY who understand the how to do the work right, with a beautiful durable finish that you will enjoy for years to come. We can also help with painting for houses with asbestos siding, see our asbestos siding painting service page for more information.
In order to create a beautiful finish on your vinyl or aluminum siding, it is imperative that the proper preparation and coatings are used. The proper steps to applying a new coat of paint to vinyl or aluminum siding are very similar:
1 Power Wash
Wash the vinyl or aluminum to clear off excess dirt, mold, and debris. For aluminum, there will be some residual chalkiness, which is normal.
2 Prep
Our team will carefully cover all items on your house that are not meant to be painted. We will cover the ground with drop cloths to protect it from overspray.
3 Paint
Once everything is prepped, your CertaPro team will apply premium-quality paint to your home’s exterior, creating a uniform finish.
4 Clean
At the end of each day, the painting crew cleans up around your home, ensuring any paint chips are removed and all materials are stored neatly away.
5 Inspect
After our own inspection, your job site supervisor will walk you through the space, giving you the opportunity to review our work and to provide any initial feedback.

Common Types of Siding in the WNY Region
WNY has all types of siding but there are some types more common than others. The type of siding you have will determine what options you have for painting the siding.
Vinyl Siding:
Vinyl is very common in the WNY area. Most homes built in the last 20 years with siding exteriors utilize vinyl siding as the material. Vinyl comes in a variety of styles and textures. Vinyl siding can be painted, but there may be color limitations, some types of vinyl siding will not hold up well to a drastic color change. Some colors can draw more heat from the sun and cause siding to melt or warp. During your estimate appointment with our team we can cover viable options for your project.
Wood Siding:
Wood siding is also very common in WNY and is used on many homes in the area. With wood siding you will have more options for the color selection process, however wood often requires detailed prep work to remove as much of the old paint and materials as possible. This may include scraping all of the siding, power washing, wood rot repairs, or sanding to ready the surfaces. In the event of rotting wood siding, we have carpenters who can repair the surfaces as part of your project.
Asbestos Siding
Asbestos siding is still fairly common in the WNY area. Removal of asbestos siding can be very expensive and requires a specialized team. A more affordable alternative to replacement is to paint over the siding to get a new look and feel without removal. Painting of asbestos siding does require extra precautions, learn more on our asbestos siding painting page.
Aluminum Siding
Aluminum siding is commonly used on homes in the WNY region built before 1960. Aluminum siding is very durable and can withstand the test of time when maintained properly. General maintenance includes keeping a fresh layer of protective paint once every 5-10 years. Painting of siding is considerably less expensive than replacement. With aluminum siding your color options are not limited like they are with Vinyl.
