Choosing paint colors, I know is something that can be a struggle for many of us. Where do you start? At CertaPro Painters of WNY, we typically use all Sherwin Williams products. Here are some options and tips from CertaPro Painters of WNY and Sherwin-Williams on how to choose a new hue that is right for you.
Look for Inspiration around you.
Inspiration can come from anywhere. Sometimes you see the color of a house down the street or the milky brown of your morning coffee and get inspired. Other times you realize that the wallpaper in the hallways is older than you are, and it is ripped and peeling off the wall. If you are of the latter and know it’s time for a change but do not know where to start, or you have a hard time visualizing the end results in your mind, we have some tips for you. Great ways to get started are to take a drive around your neighborhood or make a list of colors you do not like.
Get online.
There is so much to see and do online, it is another great place to start looking for color inspiration. Here are some websites, some showcasing our previous work to help with ideas.
Color matching.
Just wanting to match a color that already exists in or on your home? Or want to tie your living room together with an accent wall that will match your new blue couch or throw pillows. Sherwin-Williams can match a physical object’s color and turn it into a custom color. What is needed is a physical sample that is a minimum of 2”x 2” (paint chip, shutter, throw pillow). Or an existing paint can with a wet sample or empty paint can with a Sherwin-Williams formula Sticker is also acceptable.
Color Chips.
We have all been to the home improvement store and have seen the paint section wall with all the color chips. Sherwin-Williams has a color chip wall too. Color Consultation.
You can sign up for a free 30-minute color consultation with a Sherwin-Williams color expert. Sessions can be conducted over the phone, by video chat, text, or email. There is a limit to 2 interior rooms or 1 exterior maximum per consultation. What you will get is color recommendations specific to your project.
