PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED:

Safelite Glass Repair has a few locations in Western New York. One of the locations in the Williamsville area needed a serious facelift. The interior of the auto shop which includes the block walls, garage bay doors and metal man doors needed a heavy power wash, scrub, priming and painting. There were three existing colors on the walls in a striped pattern. Safelite wanted a new color scheme over the old color scheme. The striping also needed to be altered to different widths from the existing widths.

PROJECT INVOLVEMENT:

On the interior of the warehouse, we washed and scrubbed the existing block so that it would be free of grease, dust, and dirt. After everything was dry, we primed the walls so that the existing color scheme would not show through. We then painted the top portion of the block in Sherwin Williams SherCryl Argos SW 7065 in a Semi-Gloss finish. We painted the middle stripe in Sherwin Williams SherCryl Safety Red in a Semi-Gloss Finish. We painted the lower portion of the block in Sherwin Williams SherCryl Iron Ore SW 7069 in a Semi-Gloss Finish. We also painted the inside of the Garage Bay doors in Sherwin Williams SherCryl Extra White SW 7006 in a Semi-Gloss Finish and the metal man doors in Sherwin Williams SherCryl TriCorn Black SW 6258 in a Semi-Gloss Finish.

CHALLENGES, EQUIPMENT AND TECHNIQUES:

During the project we had water coming thorough the roof and we could not paint one of the walls that was in bad condition. We needed to coordinate with the building manager to have the repairs completed. After the repairs were complete, we followed the same process and completed the wall. Another challenge we faced was that the shop still needed to be operational. To ensure that we could get the job done for the customer without interrupting their day to day we separated the project into two parts. We worked on the left side of the warehouse first and then moved to the right side. Everything went according to plan and business was not interrupted.

FINAL RESULT:

Safelite now has a fresh look to their business. They also have an exceptionally durable product on their walls so that they can wash the future grime and dirt off easily.
