Residential Front Porch Restoration and Repair Painting Project

Project: In May 2025, CertaPro Painters® of Winston-Salem had the opportunity to restore and refresh a cherished family home built in 1980. The primary focus of the project was to address deteriorated exterior elements, particularly the badly rotted front porch columns, as well as a variety of wood repairs around the property’s exterior. The homeowner, whose parents were the original owners, was seeking to preserve and enhance the home’s curb appeal while maintaining its sentimental value.

Process: Upon assessment, the front porch columns showed significant rot at the base, and multiple areas across the soffits, fascia, window frames, and door frames required carpentry repairs. Our team carefully removed the four damaged porch columns, ensuring the structure was adequately supported throughout the process. New columns were custom-cut and installed to match the original dimensions and design.

Additional carpentry work involved replacing rotted wood in various exterior elements, followed by a full exterior repaint to unify and refresh the home’s appearance. Selecting the appropriate replacement materials and ensuring precision in both demolition and installation were essential to preserving the home’s character.

The project was completed in five days, including all painting and repair work. The homeowner was extremely pleased with the results, expressing appreciation for the care taken in restoring a property with deep family significance.
