Zion Memorial Baptist Church Interior Painting Project

Project: In October 2024, CertaPro Painters® of Winston-Salem had the privilege of rejuvenating the interior of Zion Memorial Baptist Church. The scope of work included removing old popcorn ceiling texture, repairing and painting the cathedral ceilings in the main Sanctuary, and addressing concrete block walls with severe efflorescence on the lower level. The project also involved replacing outdated vinyl baseboards and refreshing the walls throughout the space.

Process: When we began, the Sanctuary’s popcorn ceiling texture was peeling and badly stained, and the window and door frames showed significant paint deterioration. The concrete block walls on the lower level were heavily affected by efflorescence, giving the entire space an outdated and weathered appearance.

The removal of the popcorn ceiling texture presented a unique challenge due to the high cathedral ceilings, which required the use of extensive scaffolding. Our team took great care to protect the pews and carpet below to avoid any damage from falling debris during the popcorn ceiling removal process. Once the texture was removed, the ceilings were patched, smoothed, and painted, completely transforming the space into a bright and welcoming environment.

For the lower level, efflorescence on the concrete block walls required careful preparation. The walls were thoroughly cleaned, primed, and painted to ensure a clean and long-lasting finish. Old vinyl baseboards were removed and replaced, adding to the polished, updated look.

The project started in October 2024 and was completed within three weeks. Thanks to detailed planning and the hard work of our experienced team, we minimized disruptions to the church’s activities while maintaining a clean and organized workspace throughout the process.
