Transforming a Faded Self-Storage Facility in Mesa, AZ
In April 2024, our team undertook a comprehensive painting project to revitalize the exterior of a self-storage facility. The facility faced several challenges, including faded exterior walls, peeling paint in hallways, and heavy chalking on exterior roll-up doors. Our goal was to not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of the facility but also to ensure durability and protection against future wear and tear.
The project spanned six weeks from start to finish, requiring meticulous planning and execution to address the unique needs of the facility.
Our Approach
One of the major challenges encountered during this project was the aftermath of a previous vendor’s work. The application of new stucco by another vendor had resulted in damage to the interior of several storage units due to improper masking. Learning from this experience, we devised a strategic plan to prevent similar issues from occurring during our painting project.
To mitigate the risk of water intrusion into storage units, we adopted a meticulous approach to cleaning and masking. Prior to painting, we hand-cleaned all door surfaces and hallway walls and ceilings to ensure no water would seep into the units. This step was crucial in safeguarding the belongings of the facility’s tenants.
Additionally, we implemented a rigorous masking protocol, paying special attention to areas around doors where overspray could potentially penetrate storage units. By taking these precautionary measures, we aimed to deliver not only a high-quality paint job but also peace of mind to the facility’s management and tenants.
Execution & Results
Throughout the project, our team worked diligently to scrape peeling paint, spot prime exposed metal surfaces, and apply appropriate paints tailored to each surface’s requirements. The exterior walls were power washed to remove accumulated dirt and grime, while exterior roll-up doors received a paint conditioner treatment to address heavy chalking.
The result was a transformation that exceeded the client’s expectations. The once-faded exterior now boasted a vibrant appearance, while the hallways were rejuvenated with fresh coats of paint, eliminating unsightly peeling. By addressing the challenges head-on and implementing a meticulous approach, we not only restored the facility’s aesthetic appeal but also enhanced its longevity and durability.
The successful completion of the self-storage facility painting project underscored our commitment to delivering excellence in every endeavor. Despite facing challenges posed by previous work, our strategic planning and attention to detail and communication with the facility’s staff enabled us to overcome obstacles and achieve outstanding results.
