Our Epoxy & Polyaspartic Floor Coating Process
Transforming a concrete floor with an epoxy or polyaspartic coating is a detailed, multi-step process that ensures both durability and a polished finish. Most projects are completed over the course of two days, depending on the size and condition of the space.
Day One: Surface Preparation & Base Coat
Diamond Grinding: We begin by mechanically grinding the concrete surface with industrial diamond grinders. This opens the pores of the concrete, removes surface contaminants, and ensures maximum adhesion of the coating.
Crack & Damage Repair: Any cracks, pits, or imperfections in the concrete are carefully filled and smoothed to create a uniform surface.
Moisture Barrier Application: A specialized moisture barrier is applied to protect the floor against water intrusion, which is one of the most common causes of coating failure.
Base Coat Application: Once the surface is fully prepped, we apply a pigmented epoxy or polyaspartic base coat that bonds tightly to the concrete.
Flake Broadcast: Decorative vinyl flakes are generously spread into the base coat while it’s still wet. These flakes add color, texture, and slip resistance, while also masking minor imperfections in the concrete.
Day Two: Finishing & Protective Topcoats
Flake Scraping & Cleanup: After the base coat cures, we scrape away excess flakes and vacuum the floor to create a smooth, even texture.
First Polyaspartic Topcoat: A durable clear polyaspartic layer is applied to lock in the flakes and protect the surface.
Second Polyaspartic Topcoat with Anti-Slip Additive: A second protective layer is added, incorporating an anti-slip additive to improve traction and safety. This creates a glossy, long-lasting finish that resists stains, abrasions, and UV damage.
