White is a great choice in many cases, however, it’s not the only option. However, if you are looking to get a little creative or are just curious what other paint colors would work well on trim then keep on reading!
The paint color for you select for your trim needs to coordinate with your wall color and well as the décor in the space. Although trim seems like a small detail, it actually makes a huge style difference in a home. It adds character and creates dimension. So how to you know which trim paint color to select?
Using Various Shades of One Color
For your walls, the brightest or lightest shade should be chosen. A darker shade of that same color can then be used on the trim, window boards and sills. Apply the darkest shade to the windows and door frames.
Using Black
If you have neutral, light colored walls try black trim. This is a newer trend and can be see in a lot of modern homes. It adds edge and uniqueness into the home. It creates contrast and will make your home feel like an entirely new space.
Using Shades of Beige
Beige trim looks stunning in a home with white walls. Paint all of the doors in the home the same color as the trim to create an elegant and cohesive look.
Wood Trim
If your home has wood trim and you are wondering which paint colors look best with it, we recommend sticking with light neutrals. This helps create contrast in the space.
