In April 2025, CertaPro Painters of North Scottsdale completed a commercial interior painting project at a boarding school located in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The project focused on two large dormitory common rooms, each over 1,000 square feet with 18-foot ceilings.
As part of the design, each room also included 120 square feet of chalkboard-painted walls.
Scope of the Project:
The condition of the facility presented typical challenges seen in high-traffic educational environments. The walls and metal entry doors had sustained considerable wear and tear, including peeling paint, scuff marks, cracks, and dents. To ensure a smooth and durable finish, the team scraped and removed loose paint, spot-primed all repaired areas, and scuff-sanded all doors and frames before applying any coatings.
For the final finish, Sherwin-Williams Scuff Tuff in an eggshell sheen was used on all walls, offering durability ideal for high-traffic settings. Doors and frames were coated with Sherwin-Williams Emerald Trim Urethane Enamel, known for its resistance to damage in demanding environments such as schools, gyms, and healthcare facilities.
Challenges:
A unique challenge of the project was working around the school’s schedule. Since the rooms were common areas, all painting had to be done while students were in class. To meet the tight timeline, the crew size was doubled, allowing the project to be completed efficiently.
