Garage Floor Coating and Interior Restoration in Advance, NC

SCOPE OF THE WORK:

The scope included full preparation and coating of both garage floors using a professional polyaspartic system. This began with diamond grinding the concrete surfaces in both the three-car and two-car bays to properly profile the floor for coating adhesion.

In addition to the floor work, the team primed and painted the walls and ceiling in the three-car garage, along with the walls in the two-car garage. Drywall repairs were completed throughout both spaces, including fixing ceiling tape seam failures, patching nail and screw holes, and repairing damaged seams to create a smooth, uniform finish before painting.

CHALLENGES & SOLUTIONS:

One of the primary challenges was completing the project during colder weather conditions, which can impact coating application and cure times. The team carefully planned around temperature fluctuations to ensure proper installation of the polyaspartic system.

Another challenge involved coordinating the work around the homeowner’s schedule and other ongoing projects. Since both garages were actively used for storage, the project was completed in phases—allowing one garage to be finished at a time while the homeowner relocated items between spaces.

SPECIAL EQUPMENT & TECHNIQUES:

This project required specialized equipment and a high level of technical execution. The team utilized both large and small diamond grinders to prepare the concrete surfaces, including tight areas near cabinets and edges. Before grinding, the hardness of the concrete was tested to determine the correct diamond tooling needed for optimal surface profiling.

A propane-powered grinder and a self-supplied generator were used to avoid overloading the home’s electrical system, while a high-end dust collection system minimized airborne debris and disruption. Hand grinders were also used for detailed work and finishing, especially after crack repairs, ensuring a seamless final surface.

The Results

The completed project delivered a fully restored and upgraded garage environment across both spaces. The new polyaspartic floor coatings provide a durable, long-lasting surface resistant to wear, while the freshly painted walls and ceilings create a bright, clean, and cohesive appearance.
