School Painting Case Study

This project was for the Montessori Children’s House & School located on Abrams Road in the Lake Highlands neighborhood of Dallas. The project was to repaint all the previously painted interior surfaces, including all the cabinets and children’s cubbies in all the classrooms, as well as all the exterior doors. This was our inaugural project in a new commercial relationship with Home Pro and it was Home Pro’s first large commercial project since they mainly manage residential home improvement projects for their customers. It was critical for them that the job goes smoothly and it was critical to us to maintain excellent customer service with our clients.

Condition of Facility:

As you can imagine, hundreds of preschool children can deliver a lot of wear and tear to surfaces. Also, the customer was very unhappy with the previous painting on the interior doors (streaky and stipple marks from poorly brushed and rolled doors) and wanted their appearance improved dramatically, so considerable prep was required on all the doors.

Drywall Replacement – due to water damage and mold.
Heavy Duty Sanders – to work on doors.
Ceiling Working Platform – One ceiling was suspended over another ceiling so the painters had to build a working platform on top of the first ceiling in order to paint th

Special Challenges:

Timing. The job had to be completed during the school’s Christmas break. The window was tight given the scope of work involved. Also, the degree of prep on the doors was unusually heavy due to the customer’s desire to have them look dramatically smoother. In addition, we had to work around heavy furniture, such as pianos and fish tanks, while meticulously painting around these pieces so as to not get paint on them.
