Warehouse Painting in Sparks, NV

During the September and October of 2024 our painting team was asked to prep and paint the exterior of three warehouses in Sparks, NV. The warehouse required a good deal of prep to make sure they were sealed from the elements. This painting project took a total of eight weeks to complete as it was necessary to work around tenant schedules.

About the Project

The Facility:

The project included the exterior of three warehouses off Greg St in Sparks.

Condition of Building:

The buildings had not been painted in several years and had all the wear and tear associated with warehouse units. This includes cracking in the tilt up, flaking, rust on hand rails, cracking in the expansion joints, and damage near dock doors. In addition, several improvements had been made with regards to signage and dock door pads that left behind damage that needed to be addressed.

Project Involvement:

The project was to repaint the three buildings using the same color scheme as well as replace all of the expansion joints. The concrete tilt up, dock doors, man doors, railings, planter boxes, metal awnings, and wheelchair lifts were all included in the scope of work.

Special Challenges:

Two of the three buildings were occupied, so the main challenge throughout the project was working around the tenants’ businesses. A schedule was sent to the property manager prior to the project beginning that outlined the tentative schedule. This allowed the property manager to communicate expectations to the tenants. By notifying the tenants, we were able to avoid disrupting their operations as well as our project.

Sealing the Buildings Before Painting

One of the largest parts of the projects was replacing the expansion joints on the three buildings. A sawzall was used to remove the existing caulk and backer rod. The edges of the tilt up were cleaned with knives to remove remaining caulk. New backer rod was inserted and Loxon H1 Sealant was was used to seal the joints.
