Commercial Case Study
Colonial Park Care Center
Colonial Park Care Center is located in Harrisburg, PA. Their mission is to promote health of their residents, along with preventative and restorative services that improve the quality of life for all they serve.
Problem To Be Solved:
Colonial Park Care Center came to us in August 2020 to paint the exterior of their facility. The scope of the work involved pressure washing, scrapping/sanding, spot priming, and painting approximately 10,500 square feet of metal roof on all four sides of the building including an inner courtyard, metal catwalk, and other miscellaneous metal trim including downspouts, windows, vents & fencing. Prior to the project, the previously coated metal roof around the entire perimeter of the building and the interior courtyard were both discolored and peeling with areas of rust. In addition, the metal doors and a metal catwalk on the right side of the building were also in the same shape. One of the main challenges we faced was the height of the building.
Problem Solver Solution:
Prior to painting, the entire roof was pressured washed to clean and remove excess dirt, rust, peeling paint and other debris. All rusted areas were extensively scrapped/sanded, then primed using Sherwin Williams Pro Industrial PRO-CRYL Universal Acrylic Primer. Once complete, the metal roof and various metal items were top coated using two (2) coats Sherwin Williams Protective & Marine Coating BOND-PLEX Waterbased Acrylic Coating, a single component, water-borne, acrylic, adhesion-promoting coating. We matched the color with the existing “bronze” color. Due to the various locations and heights of the multiple roofs, we used a 65-foot lift for the front and some of the hand right side, but due to obstacles, all the other sides and the inner courtyard had to be completed from ladders.
Final Result:
Overall, the project took two weeks to complete and Colonial Park Care Center was very happy with the result.
