Plano Neighborhoods We Paint: A Local Guide from CertaPro Painters
Posted on September 4, 2026
Plano grew from a small farm town into a city of more than a quarter million people in a few decades, and you can read that history in its neighborhoods: older cottages downtown, 1960s and 1970s ranch homes in the center, and large brick homes to the west and north. CertaPro Painters® of Plano is based on Park Boulevard, and we plan every project around the age of the home and the neighborhood it’s in.
Here’s a look at the areas we serve and what homes in each one tend to need.
What Plano Weather Does to Paint
Long, hot summers fade color and dry out wood trim, fascia, and garage doors, especially on south- and west-facing sides. Spring hail chips paint. Clay soil shifts through wet and dry spells, opening cracks in drywall, mortar, and caulk. Our exterior prep is built around those conditions.
Downtown and Plano’s Established Neighborhoods
Plano’s older neighborhoods have mature trees and homes that have been through several rounds of paint. Wood siding, original trim, and textured ceilings are common, and many homes are being updated for the first time in decades.
- Downtown Plano: Historic homes and cottages near the old downtown, alongside newer townhomes.
- Dallas North Estates: One of Plano’s earliest large subdivisions, with ranch homes from the 1960s.
- Park Forest
- Armstrong Park
- Parker Road Estates
- Prairie Creek Estates
- Timber Brook
- Los Rios
- Hunters Glen
Popular updates in these homes include popcorn ceiling removal, drywall repair for settlement cracks, and cabinet painting to modernize the kitchen.
West and North Plano
Farther west and north, homes are larger and newer, mostly brick with painted trim, tall entries, and two-story walls that call for the right equipment. Many are in HOA communities with exterior color guidelines.
- Willow Bend: Large custom homes where fine finishes and careful work are expected.
- Deerfield: A well-known family neighborhood with strong curb appeal.
- Ridgeview Ranch: A golf-course community in north Plano.
- Windhaven
- Preston Meadows
- Highlands North
- Stonehaven Estates
