How to Create the Perfect Nursery for your Baby

Every parent wants the absolute best for their child, and this begins with the nursery. It is important to make sure the nursery has all of the essentials and is the safest possible environment for your little one to spend time in. So, how do you know if your nursery is ready? Windows
Give the windows a new fresh coat of paint. If you live in a noisy area you may also want to consider noise reduction. There are thicker types of glass that can make the windows more soundproof. As for the blinds, get ones that work by magnets rather than cords. The blinds that work by cords are a potential choking hazard.
Paint
When painting the nursery, you need to be sure you’re using the right kind. If the paint has no VOC’s doesn’t necessarily make it safe. The paint can even still contain VOCs from the pigment that is added to it. Darker colors tend to have more VOC’s. So, it is important to make sure that not only the paint is VOC free, but the pigment added is VOC free as well. The durability may not be as good, but you will probably be changing the color of the room within a few years anyway.
When it comes to the painting project make sure to take all of the regular precautions. Properly ventilate the room by keeping the windows open and using fans. Seal the area off from the rest of the house and let the paint dry and least a week before the baby will be sleeping in there. The longer you wait the less VOCs.
Air
The air inside your house can be extremely polluted and babies are vulnerable to indoor pollutants such as mold and dust. Be sure you have a furnace filter that gets changed every month. In addition, install a HEPA filter. It will capture particles and is usually washable and will need to be washed every month. Lastly, purchase an air purifier for the nursery. Not only are they beneficial for filtering the air but the background noise will probably help them sleep better as well.
