Commercial Painting Tips to Stay on Target
Posted on October 15, 2019
Commercial painting services can really update a tired space. Due diligence says you should research and interview reputable and recommended contractors. Once you’ve chosen a color and signed the contract, you’re work is done, right? Wrong.
You are as responsible for the positive outcome of the project as the painter is. As the owner of the space, timelines, scheduling, budget and scope of work are all in your realm of responsibilities. Being involved and answering questions for the project will assist the process along the way.
From our pros, here are 3 commercial painting tips to stay on target.
Make a plan
Keeping your business running while working on a commercial painting project can prove beyond challenging. When you work with your contractor to make a detailed plan for the work, you’ll have more control of when the project takes place. You can request overnight or weekend hours for painting from your contractor. Most companies are happy to work around your schedule to minimize impact to work hours.
Work to make back up plans in case any inclement weather or potential issues arise. Humidity, rain, cold and other potential problems could hold up production on projects, indoors and out.
Materials
When it comes to materials, it’s best to let your contractor take the lead, but that doesn’t mean that you should be completely uninvolved. They will have expertise and experience with particular brands. Partner with your contractor to create a budget for materials and choose the best options for your project. Some materials may be more costly, but cut down time on site for the crew or last longer.
Walk Through
Once the work is completed, it’s important to do a final walk through of your area. Take a look at the project completely finished and make sure you can observe the entire area of work. Normally, there will be a completion packet that you will receive at the end. It should contain before and after pictures, maintenance suggestions and information about colors.
