Two decades might seem like a long time – and it most certainly is – but years can dissolve in a flash. Opportunities can pass by without you even realizing it. But Scott Abel is making sure he won’t look back on Father Time with any regrets when it comes to his working career. After spending two decades as an investment consultant, the Marshall Township resident decided it was a good time to change course and on Nov. 13 he will become a newly minted franchise owner with CertaPro Painters, America’s largest and most-referred painting company.
Abel’s territory will encompass Pittsburgh North. Prior to entering the corporate world, Abel spent seven years as a Naval officer and he is looking forward to writing the next chapter of his working career. “I decided after 20 years of working for a corporation that I would really like to try my hand at building my own business,” Abel said. Franchising has proven to be an especially attractive career choice for veterans. During one four-year span, the International Franchise Association reported that almost 6,000 veterans became franchisees.
