Interior School Painting Project

In July of 2023 CertaPro of Orange County was chosen to paint the interior of The St. Anne School in Liguna Niguel, the project comprised 3 buildings and over 100,000 square feet of interior space including class rooms, ceilings, trim, a gym, stairs, doors and frames, restrooms, windows and more.
The project was of so large a scale that it required just over 4,000 hours of labor and 1,275 gallons of paint. In addition to the painting a great deal of wallpaper removal was required, literally miles of wallpaper.
While 4,000 hours of labor might take an individual painter 2 years to complete, we managed to complete the project during an 8-week Summer break. During those 8 weeks we had to coordinate with staff who needed access to different areas of the buildings and we also had to work with and around other contractors who were working on flooring and cabinets throughout the facility.
Before the Project Started…
The first phase of the project required removing wallpaper from the majority of the walls at the school. As a test we first arranged to perform the removal in a single classroom to see what the underlying conditions would be before painting. This test allowed us to better calculate the staffing requirements for the job to remain inside of the very tight time frame. Once wallpaper was removed sanding, skim coating, retexturing, priming and painting commenced.
Some of the areas revealed under the wallpaper contained mold in some places and required remediation and sheetrock replacement. Other areas of the project also required us to use internal scaffolding to reach the heights required to remove wallpaper and then paint.
After Completion of the Project…
With thousands of gallons of paint used and miles of wallpaper discarded, the school was transformed. All of our planning and meeting with stakeholders allowed for great communication and steady progress throughout the time period so that our work was completed just as expected.
Below you can see some finished areas of the school as well as some very happy teachers seeing the results for the first time prior to the 2024 school year. By the end of the project the school administration was very satisfied with the results and happy to get back to their core mission after a busy summer break.
