Exterior Painting with Safety Coordination
In July 2025, CertaPro Painters® of Orange County completed a comprehensive exterior repaint for a multi-building church and daycare facility in Tustin, California. The project included the main church building, sanctuary, classroom spaces, daycare areas, sheds, and exterior railings.
Because the property serves both a place of worship and an active childcare environment, the project required careful coordination to maintain daily operations, ensure safety, and minimize disruption to both church services and daycare activities.
SCOPE OF THE PROJECT:
The project involved full exterior painting of stucco surfaces and wood trim across all buildings on the property. In addition to painting, the team completed carpentry repairs to door trim, fascia, and stair components to ensure a solid foundation for the new coatings.
Wrought iron surfaces, including those surrounding childcare play areas, were also prepared and painted to restore their appearance and durability. A new stair railing was installed as part of the project, further enhancing both safety and functionality.
The combination of painting and carpentry work resulted in a cohesive exterior upgrade across the entire facility.
CHALLENGES & SOLUTIONS:
One of the primary challenges of the project was working within an active daycare environment. The team coordinated closely with preschool administrators and staff to align work schedules with children’s playtimes and daily routines. Extra precautions were taken to protect play equipment, toys, and surrounding areas to ensure a safe environment throughout the project.
Additionally, the property remained in use for regular church services. The crew worked in carefully planned sections, prioritizing areas like the sanctuary to ensure they remained accessible and ready for Sunday services. Coordination with both church leadership and contractors allowed the project to progress smoothly without disrupting key activities.
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT & TECHNIQUES:
To access the highest points of the church structure, the team utilized a tall straight boom lift. Due to the location of the sanctuary, the lift needed to be positioned on grass areas. Protective plywood was placed beneath the equipment to prevent damage to the landscaping while maintaining safe and stable access.
This approach allowed the crew to safely reach elevated surfaces while preserving the surrounding property.
