Posted on November 26, 2019

One of the great things about teenagers is they have vivid imaginations and can come up with some wacky ideas. The best way to handle that when painting your teen’s bedroom is to work with your teen to find common ground. Here are the best five paint ideas for your teenager’s room.

The tricky “consultation” period.

First, you have to ask your teen what he/she would like their new room to look like. With this you will find yourself out the best for your teen, and he/she will be pleased by the result of the decoration project.

Set a decorating budget and stick to it.

It is important not to get carried away, even if you are used to lavishing your child with gifts, I assure you that you DON’T have to do this and your teen will be just as happy if they have an active role in saying what goes in the room.

Be aware that being a teen is a transitory period in their life.

Teens usually change like the wind.

One day something is the absolute “must-have,” and they will bug you for ages about it, and then all of a sudden, this “must-have” is forgotten about as a new distraction has come along.

Careful use of color can make a huge difference.

Well the walls were flat and smooth, and we didn’t want to stick any wallpaper up, so we decided to paint a bright color, on two walls only, and as the room has lots of light, we wanted something that would reflect an onto the two walls we were leaving painted white.

Use every inch of space AND make being organized a bit more fun.

The chances are that your teen will have enjoyed and appreciated being involved in what they may need the room to be like.

If there is a built-in cupboard, with a huge amount of wasted space inside, you can take one of the second-hand bits of the furniture that you had bought from a charity and put it INSIDE the wardrobe, meaning that all of a sudden, loads more storage space will be created. It is time to give your teenagers room a new look!
