Getting Move-In Ready
In November 2025, CertaPro Painters® of North York, ON completed a full residential interior repaint in a local home, designed to prepare the space for an upcoming move-in. The project focused on transforming the property into a clean, cohesive, and modern space before occupancy.
At the start of the project, the home was in a transitional pre-move-in state with visible signs of prior use and inconsistent finishes throughout. Several rooms featured darker tones, accent walls, and multi-color designs that created a fragmented visual flow from space to space.
Walls also showed typical wear such as nail holes, patchwork, and minor surface imperfections, especially in high-traffic areas. While the home was structurally sound, it needed a full aesthetic reset to brighten the interior and create a move-in-ready environment. Because the property was partially occupied with belongings and ongoing preparations, careful coordination and protection of surrounding surfaces were essential.
With a tight deadline and active move-in preparations underway, the team delivered a complete refresh on an accelerated schedule.
SCOPE OF THE WORK:
The project involved repainting wall surfaces only across multiple rooms, including bedrooms, hallway areas, the foyer, and main living spaces. Preparation included light sanding, minor drywall repairs, patching nail holes, and spot priming where needed.
Areas with darker colors or significant color changes required full priming to ensure complete coverage and a uniform final appearance. Once surfaces were ready, two coats of premium interior paint were applied throughout the home to create a bright, consistent white finish.
The crew also provided full protection for floors, fixtures, and adjacent surfaces while coordinating room-by-room workflow to maximize efficiency. Because of the client’s timeline, the work was completed during extended evening and night shifts without sacrificing quality.
CHALLENGES & SOLUTIONS:
The most significant challenge was the compressed move-in timeline. Completing the full scope within a short window required careful scheduling, coordinated crew movement, and controlled drying times between coats. Extended evening and overnight work hours allowed the project to stay on track.
Another challenge involved covering dark colors, accent walls, and decorative finishes. Strategic priming and multiple coats were used where necessary to eliminate bleed-through and create a clean, seamless result.
Since the home was partially occupied and still being prepared for move-in, the crew also had to work carefully around belongings while maintaining a clean and organized jobsite throughout the process.
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT & TECHNIQUES:
While no heavy equipment was needed, the project required a highly organized production approach. Coordinated room sequencing, controlled drying cycles, and continuous workflow helped maximize productivity during off-hours scheduling.
Technical success also depended on strategic spot priming, full priming in high-contrast areas, detailed masking, and thorough surface protection. These methods ensured a professional finish while protecting floors, fixtures, and occupied areas of the home.
