WPE Facility Commercial Case Study
Our experienced painters were called out to the WPE sales and service facility in Flamborough, Ontario to transform the interior of this new commercial space. We worked on their sales floor, offices, meeting rooms, service bays, employee rooms and storage areas.
WPE Landscape Equipment is a premier dealer of landscape contractor equipment. WPE has serviced the landscape and construction trades, as well as the quality-minded homeowner, through sales, repairs, and equipment rentals for over 30 years.
About the Project
The WPE building was new construction on a green field site. When we began work only the basement area was ready for painting. There are 2 buildings at the site. The buildings combined have a total 1st and 2nd floor consisting of 35,127 square feet. There is an additional basement area of 19,342 square feet with a tunnel connecting both buildings. We had to use multiple lifts, scaffolding in the stairwells, and three different types of spray equipment to complete this commercial project. This project took 5 months to complete.
PROJECT INVOLVEMENT:
The project involved extensive prep work, block filling, poured concrete filling and patching, priming of drywall, fireproofing of steel columns, priming and finishing of block and drywall surfaces with epoxy finishes, industrial acrylics and architectural coatings. We cleaned, primed and spray finished all interior and exterior metal doors and MDF baseboards. We also sprayed dryfall on corrugated metal deck/ceilings. Then we applied masonry coatings to the underground tunnel.
SPECIAL CHALLENGES
We sprayed Firetex Fireproofing coating through specialized equipment to provide 1-2 hour fire rating on their steel columns. This product is applied in multiple coats over multiple days to achieve the required film thickness. The fireproofing was then finished with an industrial acrylic low sheen finish. We used HVLP spray equipment to finish all the doors and frames. We also used lift equipment to access high drywall, block and ceiling areas. We worked closely with our local Sherwin-Williams team on color and coating choices to ensure the customer expectations were met.
