In the past, the kitchen was only known to be the place where meals were made, and the dishes were done. In today’s world, a kitchen is a place for gathering. It is the space where a lot of our time is spent and a lot of our conversations with loved ones take place. With that being said, it has become important in modern decorating, that the kitchen is an aesthetically pleasing space. We want it to be friendly, stylish and inviting. Keep reading for the 5 top kitchen trends we will be seeing in 2020.

Black Cabinets or Dark Cabinets

White cabinets or just an all-white kitchen has certainly been the trend as of recent years. However, you won’t be seeing as much of it. Black or dark-coloured cabinets are going to take over this trend. Whether it be black, navy, dark green or plum, these dark cabinets will give the space a luxurious feel.

Pops of Colour

As mentioned above, a lot of people jumped on board the all-white kitchen trend. In order to stay with the current trends, people will be adding pops of colour to break up their all-white kitchen. Whether this be in the island, or colour of the cabinets. Color will be incorporated much more this year. Specifically, blues and greens.

Smart Kitchens

As technology is advancing, so are our homes. Today we have a variety of fancy kitchen appliances that add convenience to our lives. This year people will be incorporating more smart gadgets into their kitchens through the faucets, lighting and refrigerators.

Faucets will be motioned sensors, refrigerators will give alerts, and coffee makers will have your coffee ready for you when you wake up.

Simplicity and Modernity

Farmhouse style had become widely popular in the past decade. However, we won’t be seeing much more of that in the upcoming years. Instead, we will be seeing the simplicity and clean lines.

Open Shelving

Removing upper wall cabinets is becoming increasingly more popular due to the fact that it makes the kitchen appear larger. It will be replaced with open shelving.
