Meet Jeff – Painter, Podcaster, Patriots Fan
Jeff emigrated from Hong Kong at age 7 and grew up in the heart of Boston. He married his wife Marilyn in 1991 and moved to the Newton area in 1997 to raise their three children. They have lived there for over 20 years.
As a man with great aspirations, Jeff was proud to be the first in his family to graduate with a college degree. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. His love of technology established his first profession in the Aerospace industry as a manufacturing engineer. While working as an engineer, Jeff developed an appreciation for business and decided to return to school to achieve a master’s degree in business administration from Suffolk University.
Jeff has used his experience, entrepreneurial spirit, and advanced degrees to excel in multiple roles, including product management at eBay, opening a mortgage brokerage, and working as a digital marketing executive with various startups and enterprises. He loves the challenge of growing a small business, and that is one of the reasons he chose to become a CertaPro Painters® franchise owner.
Fun Fact: Jeff’s favorite room to paint is the living room. This is because he considers it the heart of the home. It is where he displays pictures of family members and items of love. This room contains what is most precious to the family and it should look and feel like home.

Why did Jeff decide to join the CertaPro family? Because he is a man who enjoys creating in every sense of the word. Jeff enjoys working on home renovation projects, relishing the process from initial concept to the final product. Ask his wife Marilyn about all the small construction tools he owns, and you’ll get a pretty good idea of Jeff’s love for creating things from scratch. The ability to create something new and help reinvent the look and feel of a community is one of the many reasons Jeff decided to become a CertaPro® owner.

Jeff manages the operations of CertaPro Painters® of Newton, MA. He assures that all client needs are met from the initial estimate to project completion. He enjoys getting his hands dirty and working through the details of every job. It is also very important to Jeff that his team members enjoy their work and have the means to succeed; he therefore always carefully communicates customer expectations and establishes goals. His goal is to always ensure his team provides quality service and a superior product every time.

Jeff lives a full life. He has a thriving business, he has raised three wonderful children who now have successful careers of their own in Texas, Maryland, and Pennsylvania, and he has a long list of recreational activities that he enjoys. Jeff spends his free time enjoying sports. He is an avid fan of all Boston teams. His favorites are the Celtics and the Patriots. Jeff is also president of the Boston Hurricanes, a sports organization for skill development (clinics and training programs) in basketball and volleyball. This organization runs clinics, training programs, and hosts tournaments all over North America.
Finally, when Jeff isn’t playing golf with his childhood friends, he is likely recording an episode for his podcast Chow Chops. Chow Chops highlights new generations of Asian American restaurateurs who are driving cuisine innovation. On the podcast, the dreams and journeys of these restaurateurs are shared with listeners.
