Window Restoration and Painting Project

SCOPE OF THE WORK:

The scope of work included painting both the interior and exterior portions of the home’s windows, along with a few doors. Due to the condition of the property, the project also required targeted wood replacement on several window frames where rot and splintering had compromised the structure.

On the exterior, many window frames showed significant deterioration, with sections of wood beginning to break down. Inside the home, window sills had visible chipping and wear, and one window in the bonus room required more extensive attention due to advanced rot.

The team carefully prepped, repaired, and painted all affected areas while ensuring that windows were not sealed shut during the process. Maintaining operability was a key part of the project, requiring precise application techniques and attention to detail.

CHALLENGES & SOLUTIONS:

Window restoration projects present unique challenges, especially when dealing with rotted wood attached to functional components. During the repair process, there is always a risk of additional damage when removing compromised material.

In this case, one window experienced cracking during the repair process—something that had been clearly communicated to the homeowner beforehand. Because expectations were set early and communication remained transparent throughout, the situation was handled smoothly, and plans were made to replace the affected window.

The team also took extra care to ensure that all painted windows remained operable, avoiding common issues where paint can seal moving parts. This required detailed prep work and controlled application techniques.
