In August 2025, our team was brought in to assist with the renovation of a historic home located on the property of a large church in Columbia, TN.
The building, which had not been used in years, was slated for conversion into office space as part of a larger renovation project.
We were honored to be entrusted with the responsibility of restoring the home’s exterior while following strict safety and environmental guidelines.
SCOPE OF THE PROJECT
This project required extensive preparation due to the deteriorated condition of the property. The home’s exterior surfaces were in poor shape, with significant areas of peeling lead-based paint.
As an EPA-certified lead containment contractor, we implemented a full containment protocol. This included turning off the HVAC system, using protective tape and plastic to seal the work area, and outfitting our painters with proper PPE.
Our team carefully followed procedures to scrape and prepare the surfaces, ensuring both safety and compliance before moving forward with priming and painting.
SPECIAL TECHNIQUES & EQUIPMENT
The biggest challenge came from the summer heat. Because the HVAC system needed to remain off for proper lead containment, our painters worked in Tyvek suits under tough conditions.
Despite these obstacles, the team remained disciplined and thorough, ensuring the project was executed safely and efficiently. By adhering to EPA guidelines and using the correct protective equipment, we successfully contained the old lead paint and delivered a fresh, restored finish that prepared the home for its new use.
