The Swift-Coles Historic Home isn’t just any ordinary house. Built in 1882, it serves as both a museum and an event venue, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Bon Secour. With its Creole Cottage architecture and sprawling 6,000-square-foot layout, the home stands as a testament to the craftsmanship of yesteryears. Situated in the heart of Bon Secour, it has been a beacon of history, listed on both the National Register of Historic Places and the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage.
A Tale of Neglect
As with many historical structures, the passage of time hadn’t been entirely kind to the Swift-Coles Historic Home. Neglect had taken its toll, leaving behind peeling paint and rotting porch ceilings. The once-grand facade now wore a weary look, longing for a touch of care and restoration.

Lead RRP Remediation: A significant challenge loomed over us as we discovered traces of lead paint dating back to the home’s origins in the 1880s. However, armed with expertise and adherence to state regulations, we embarked on the task of lead RRP (Renovate, Repair, Paint) remediation. With proper precautions in place, we ensured the safe removal and disposal of these hazardous materials.
Carpentry: The restoration wouldn’t be complete without addressing structural issues. Our team delved into the intricacies of carpentry, repairing weathered wood and restoring the home’s framework to its former strength.
Painting: Like an artist with a blank canvas, we set out to breathe new life into the Swift-Coles Historic Home. With careful strokes and attention to detail, we painted the exterior, rejuvenating its appearance while preserving its timeless charm.
