CertaPro Painters of Mobile Hosted Round Table with Congressman Bradley Byrne
On Aug 29, Steve Carey, President, CertaPro Painters of South Alabama, hosted a business round table with Congressman Bradley Byrne (R-AL-1).
For over an hour and a half, the group discussed several issues impacting franchise businesses including Minimum Wage, QIP, joint employer rulemaking, and the PRO Act. Representative, and now Senate candidate Byrne has single-handedly championed franchise issues throughout his time in Congress, notably on the joint employer issue. A labor law expert and staunch advocate for commonsense solutions and pro-business policies, Congressman Byrne was the architect and author of H.R. 3441, the Save Local Business Act of 2017. The bipartisan bill – which passed the House in November of 2017 – aimed to return the joint employer standard to its historical and thoughtful precedent. Rep. Byrne is committed to supporting legislation that will protect franchise businesses (regarding fixing the expanded joint employer standard and QIP), and voiced his opposition to the PRO Act. His advice for business owners is to share their stories and experiences with elected officials, while always educating on the intricacies of running a small business.
