St Joseph Parish in Mobile, AL
St Joseph Parish is a beautiful Catholic Church in the Maysville neighborhood of Mobile. The sanctuary has undergone a renovation with new flooring, but the Apse in the Sanctuary looked very dated. Thankfully, CertaPro painters was called to give it a refresh and provide a clean look to the most central part of this church interior.
CHALLENGES:
Easter Services were coming up fast and there was no room for lollygagging. Our team worked a steady and swift timeline to ensure top quality results before Easter.
Scaffolding and Ladders had to be used to reach the upper areas of the apse both for prepping and painting
Projects of this size require proper coordination within the crew. The pressure of such an important project may have deterred some, but CertaPro can handle anything from major to minor.
CONDITIONS:
Dated Wood Paneling – Unlike walls that only require a simple repaint, the wood paneling required a thorough touch-up described below
Bulging Sheetrock – The dated color scheme was bad enough, but we also identified bulging seams that needed to be repaired as well.
Unusual Location – While most painters are only accustomed to simple walls and doorways, CertaPro Painters was well prepared for the shape of this church apse.
PROJECT INVOLVEMENT:
Scuff Sanding – All Wood Paneling needed to be scuff-sanded to prepare the surface before any paint or primer could be applied
Sheetrock Repair – CertaPro Painters had to repair the bulging sheetrock seams to ensure a smooth paintjob without bubbles or an uneven finish.
Oil Priming – All substrates needed oil primer before painting could finally begin
Painting – The two-tone color scheme of pink and brown was transformed into a more humble and calming gray.
