Community College Painting Project
Bishop State Community College is in the process of upgrading their facilities on their main campus in Downtown Mobile, AL. The MTEC building has long been neglected and has been derisively referred to as “that building with leprosy”, due to failing paint and overall poor condition. Our painting contractors were recently contacted to complete an exterior refresh at this property. You can check out our excellent results below.
About the Project
The building has been continually coated with improper materials to “put lipstick on a pig”. A series of latex coats had been placed over a metal substrate, so the paint was peeling off in huge chunks all the way down to bare metal.
PROJECT INVOLVEMENT:
CertaPro aggressively power washed and then hand scraped off the failing materials to get down to a paintable substrate. CertaPro then applied a premium Sherwin Williams Industrial Primer called Pro-Cryl before applying 2 coats of Sher-Cryl Acrylic Metal Finish Paint.
SPECIAL CHALLENGES
Bishop State is in the process of completing a major building construction project immediately adjacent to the MTEC Building, so great care was taken to schedule around construction and landscaping crews, as well as classroom schedules.
PROJECT TIMELINE
The project was completed in just 2 weeks.
