Brick Painting
Commercial Painting Case Study
The Task:
We were hired to paint the customer’s warehouse in the Twin Cities area. The building had some areas where the paint had deteriorated significantly. Also, some of the bricks were damaged since the lack of paint left them exposed to the elements without protection. We removed all peeling paint and repaired the damaged bricks with cement compound applying and adhesion additive to make sure the cement will adhere well to the repaired surface. After power washing, we proceeded to apply two coats of Loxon XP from Sherwin Williams. Loxon XP is especially designed for bricks and stucco, which makes it the right choice for this application. For stucco applications, Loxon XP fills in the hair line cracks and its elastic properties delay cracking helping keep the stucco together. The client sought a solution to both improve the building’s aesthetic appearance and provide long-term protection against further damage.
The Work:
CertaPro Painters of Minneapolis South & St. Louis Park removed all of the existing peeling and deteriorated paint. Our team scraped off any loose or chipped paint for a smooth and stable surface for the new coating. We also addressed the structural integrity of the building by repairing damaged bricks. These bricks had been exposed to rain, snow, and other weather conditions for an extended period, causing them to weaken. To repair these areas, we used a high-quality cement compound. We ensured that the cement was attached to the surface by applying an adhesion additive that helps form a strong bond between the cement and the existing brick, preventing future issues with the repair failing over time. Once the surface was fully prepped, we thoroughly power washed the entire building to remove any remaining dust, dirt, or debris that could interfere with the new coat of paint. After that, we applied two coats of Loxon XP to the building’s exterior. The first coat provided a solid foundation, while the second coat helped with full coverage and maximum protection.
Final Results:
The warehouse’s exterior was transformed by CertaPro Painters of Minneapolis South & St. Louis Park. Loxon XP gave the finished product a fresh, clean, and professional look. Overall, this project was a success, providing the client with a warehouse that looks great and is well-protected. Our team was delighted to be involved in restoring the warehouse’s brick exterior!
