Winter Project: Makeover your Bathroom

Posted on December 22, 2019

Winter is the perfect time to complete those indoor projects that you’ve been pushing to the side. Giving your bathrooms a makeover may be one of those projects.

The holidays are an expensive time of year so you may decide that you want to complete the project yourself rather than hiring painters. Follow the tips below to ensure your DIY painting project goes as smoothly as possible.

Complete the Trim

First complete the trim and the paint the ceiling and walls. Paint the molding and baseboards. Tape any areas that require a clean line. Next move on to the ceiling and finish with walls.

Patch holes

Patch any holes and fix any imperfections that may be on the walls.

Use Glossy Paint

Consider using glossy paint. They are typically used in bathrooms because of their durability. The downside of using glossy paint is that it shows every imperfection that may be in the walls. So be sure to complete the step above.

Moisture can ruin the paint. So, make sure you have access to another bathroom while the paint is drying.

Pick Light-colored paint

Pick a light-colored paint. Bathrooms are typically smaller spaces so light colors work best. A white bathroom looks open and clean.

Now that the painting is done you are free to move on to the fun stuff… decorating!

Here are some ideas to make your bathroom look it’s best:

  1. Add a chandelier. It is an easy way to make a statement and can a lot to the space.
  2. Create pops of color by adding a bathmat and rug.
  3. Silver accents. An all-white bathroom with silver accents is modern and classy.
  4. Add a large mirror. Not only does this open up the space but it is stylish, modern and convenient.
