Exterior Painting Prep Guide

There are some outside factors such as changes in weather and changes in the scope of prior jobs that have a chance of changing your start date. If such a factor were to affect your start date, not to worry – we will contact you as soon as we know.
For Exterior Projects:
IN ORDER TO HELP ENSURE EFFICIENCY, SAFETY, AND SMOOTH PROGRESS FOR EVERYONE INVOLVED, PLEASE COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING BEFORE WE ARRIVE:
LANDSCAPING: Kindly trim any shrubs or bushes touching your home’s surfaces or those due for painting or repair, ensuring a clearance of at least 12 inches. Remove any vines attached to or near your house. If it’s not feasible for you, we’ll do our utmost to paint behind them but can’t assure flawless coverage.
WINDOWS: Securely close all windows before our pressure washing visit. If you’ve previously experienced leakages around your doors or windows, please let your Job Site Supervisor know. We recommend placing towels around windows susceptible to water seepage.
OUTDOOR FURNITURE: Kindly clear your decks and porches of small items and fabric materials prior to our pressure washing and painting services. We only pressure wash decks we’ll be staining to avoid paint peeling incidents.
WINDOW SCREENS: From inside your home, unlatch window screens for us to remove them without entering your property. We can only remove storm windows if they aren’t sealed tightly to the window frame to prevent damage.
PETS: Please arrange for your pets to be away from the work area. If there are any pet-related considerations such as gates, doors, or latches, inform your Job Site Supervisor.
ACCESSIBILITY: Be ready to grant access to all areas included in our work scope. Unlock gates and share the necessary codes for locks or lockboxes.
UTILITIES: We’ll need access to your exterior water spigots and electricity; please show their locations to your Job Site Supervisor.
PARKING: Should your neighborhood have any parking limitations, advise us in advance. For urban buildings with limited parking deck space, please suggest the ideal parking spot.
SUPPORT: If you need help with these preparations, call us—additional charges might apply.
HOA GUIDELINES: If your neighborhood is governed by a Home Owners Association, ensure you’re compliant with their by-laws, specifically regarding color or work restrictions.
CERTAPRO PAINTERS WILL PERFORM THE FOLLOWING SERVICES:
We will strategically relocate all bulky patio or porch furniture, congregating them at the heart of your patio or yard or to a safe area away from the task zone. Please note that certain weight limitations might be applicable.
All patio or porch furniture that remain within close proximity of the work site will be diligently protected using plastic and/or painters’ drop cloths.
Any furniture we moved for the task at hand will be carefully returned to their original positions once the job is successfully completed.
Rest-assured, we will meticulously clean your property, eliminating any junk, residual materials, and emptied cans to maintain a tidy environment.
Any leftover paint cans will be clearly labelled and left at your disposal for future use or touch-ups if desired.
WALKTHROUGH and PROJECT COMMUNICATION:
Our commitment to you extends beyond the completion of the project. The Site Supervisor, your onsite painting expert, is there to address any queries you might have during the process. Once the project is final, they will take you through a comprehensive walk-through – your satisfaction is our top priority. Only after this thorough review, are you expected to make payment. Our Supervisor is keen to showcase the excellent quality of craftsmanship, a testimony to their phenomenal team effort, resulting in a product you will be proud to display.
The key steps are as follows:
- Our Site Supervisor or Production Associate will keep you informed about the expected project completion day and time.
- A detailed walk-through of the project with the Site Supervisor guarantees your satisfaction with our work. The Site Supervisor on duty will be your main contact during the project, however, our Production Associate is also available for any additional support you might need.
- Finalizing the process includes signing our copy of the job proposal and remitting your payment to the Site Supervisor.
